DP World Tour: DACH Players Struggle at Hero Dubai Desert Classic Day 2

Players from the German-speaking region struggled on day two of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic of the DP World Tour. Several missed the cut.

After a promising start to the week, Friday did not go as hoped for golfers from Germany, Austria, and Switzerland at the Hero Dubai Desert Classic. Nicolai Von Dellingshausen shot a 74, dropping from fifth place on the previous day into the midfield. Freddy Schott just made the cut with a 74. Marcel Schneider also could not stay under par compared to the previous day, shooting one over par. Joel Girrbach had the worst day, scoring a 77 and barely making the cut despite a strong round on Thursday. Marcel Siem, Bernd Wiesberger, and Maximilian Steinbach missed the cut. Even the stars struggled in Dubai. Rory McIlroy sits tied with Von Dellingshausen after a 70, and Tommy Fleetwood barely made the cut. Leading after the first two days is Patrick Reed with a score of nine under par.

Triple Bogey Ends Von Dellingshausen’s Chances for Top Finish

Nicolai Von Dellingshausen played an excellent round on Thursday under difficult wind conditions, putting him in position for a possible top result this week. However, his chances faded early Friday after a triple bogey on the third hole. His drive landed in a bunker, and his next attempt to escape went out of bounds, forcing a drop. Things did not improve as he took seven strokes to finish hole 13, a par 4. He recovered somewhat with three birdies on the back nine, bringing his score to even par after nine holes. His front nine, however, was less successful with three consecutive bogeys from holes five to seven and a final birdie on nine brought his total to two over par, dropping him to 33rd place.

Joel Girrbach had an even tougher time. Starting the day T3 after a 68 on Thursday, he birdied the first hole but it was his only one of the day. Bogeys on holes 11 and 12 saw him finish the back nine at +1. The front nine went downhill with four more bogeys and no birdies, ending with a five-over-par round of 77 that put him at 60th place, just inside the cut.

DP World Tour: Eagle on 18 a Small Bright Spot for Marcel Siem

Marcel Siem had a rough week. After an even-par round on Thursday, Friday was a struggle until the very last hole, where he carded a 76 and finished 82nd, missing the cut. His front nine included four bogeys and no birdies, putting him in a difficult position early on. On the back nine, he added bogeys
