Odyssey deploys AI: The new Ai-DUAL putters use intelligent insert design to boost ball speed and precision in putting.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation and novel design. Central to this is the Ai-DUAL insert, a dual-layer urethane element developed using artificial intelligence. It features a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer to promote consistent ball speed across the face and improved forward roll. The insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) grooves, which are deeper and more pronounced at a 19-degree incline than previous models to ensure more consistent forward roll across the face.
AI-Developed Models for Beginners
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models have a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For those preferring different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants with a heavier head, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters featuring a modern, mid-shafted design. The shaft is positioned below the center of gravity, causing the putter tip to rest slightly upwards, creating a “Zero Torque” effect. This design helps the face stay square through the stroke. Additionally, the shafts are preset with a two-degree forward shaft lean to prevent the face from accidentally opening during the forward press. A specially designed reverse taper grip compensates for this, ensuring comfortable and parallel alignment of grip and face.
