With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, the Los Angeles team triumphs over New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.
On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) faced off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history. It was not until the second phase, the singles, that the Los Angeles Golf Club clearly secured the match.
Triples Phase: Early Hammer Gives Los Angeles the Lead
During the second hole of the first phase, the Triples, the Los Angeles Golf Club threw the first hammer, securing two points early on. On the fifth hole, Jupiter Links Golf Club scored their first hammer, earning an important point. On the very next hole, the sixth, Los Angeles extended their lead by another point. After the ninth hole, the Triples ended with Los Angeles leading 4:1, following a penalty stroke incurred by Jupiter Links on the final hole of the Triples.
In the second phase, the Singles, the momentum swung strongly in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (a par 5) with a driver, hitting a confident 300-meter drive down the fairway. Max Homa of New York also made a solid but shorter shot, with his second shot landing just short of the green, putting the New York team in a promising position to claw back points.
Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores TGL’s First Albatross
However, on the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history with a spectacular shot: using a 4-iron from 210 meters, he scored an albatross that thrilled fans at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled and remarked that he had never achieved an albatross during his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.
