TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a convincing team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the TGL.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history. It was only during the second phase, the singles, that Los Angeles clearly secured the victory.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles in Front

In the second hole of the first phase, known as the triples, Los Angeles threw the first hammer, securing two points. Jupiter Links then scored their first hammer on the fifth hole, gaining an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole, and after the ninth hole, they concluded triples with a bogey, leading 4:1 after Jupiter Links took a penalty stroke on the final triples hole.

In the singles phase, the momentum swung strongly for Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (Par 5) with a driver, hitting a solid 300-meter drive down the fairway. Max Homa from the opposing team followed with a solid but shorter shot, landing just short of the green and putting New York in a position to earn points back.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Hits First Albatross in TGL

Then, on the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history by scoring the first albatross in TGL with a 4-iron from 210 meters, electrifying the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he had never achieved an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

On the 12th and 13th holes, Jupiter Links clawed back three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on 12 after Collin Morikawa took a penalty stroke. Max Homa then earned two more points with a birdie, keeping the match tense at 4:5.

Decisive Final Holes: Los Angeles Seals the Win

Los Angeles saved a hammer to the penultimate hole, which the opposing team accepted to avoid elimination. Collin Morikawa’s par on that hole secured the win. New York failed to gain points on the final hole, and the match ended 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.
