Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its line of putters with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation with novel design. Central to these putters is the Ai-DUAL Insert, a dual-layer urethane element developed using artificial intelligence. It features a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer designed to ensure consistent ball speed across the face and improved forward roll. This is further enhanced by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which is 19 degrees deeper and more pronounced than previous models, promoting more consistent forward roll across the entire face.
AI-Developed Entry-Level Models
The Ai-DUAL Putters are available in various options. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants equipped with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.
Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which feature a modern, centrally-shafted design. This positions the shaft below the center of gravity, allowing the putter to rest slightly nose-up and achieve the “Zero Torque” effect. This design keeps the face comparatively square throughout the stroke. Additionally, these models have a slight two-degree forward shaft lean preset to prevent accidental opening of the face during forward hand pressure. A specially designed reverse-taper grip compensates for this set-up, ensuring comfortable and parallel alignment of grip and face.
