TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory over Jupiter

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) match featured the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, Akshay Bhatia) facing the Los Angeles Golf Club (Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first albatross in TGL history. The Los Angeles Golf Club ultimately clinched the match during the singles phase.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the second hole of the triples phase, Los Angeles threw the first hammer securing two points early. Jupiter Links responded with their hammer on hole five, gaining a crucial point. Los Angeles extended their lead by another point on hole six. They finished the triples phase with a 4:1 lead after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty on the last hole.

The singles phase saw back-to-back successes for Los Angeles. Opening the tenth hole (Par 5), Justin Rose drove a commanding 300-meter shot down the fairway. Max Homa followed with a solid but shorter shot, positioning New York well to recover points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores First Albatross in TGL

Justin Rose made history on the tenth hole with a 210-meter 4-iron shot resulting in an albatross, stunning the fans in the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods remarked this was a rare feat in his career. This remarkable shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

Jupiter Links fought back on holes 12 and 13, claiming three points. Kevin Kisner made par on 12 after Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty. Max Homa added a birdie and two points with a hammer shot, tightening the match to 5:4 late in the game.

Final Holes: Los Angeles Seals the Win

Saving a hammer for the penultimate hole, Los Angeles forced Jupiter Links to accept it to stay in the match. Collin Morikawa’s par sealed this hole and the match for Los Angeles. The final hole did not produce points for New York, ending the match 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.

With this win, Los Angeles improves to 1-1-0, staying in playoff contention. Jupiter Links faces its fifth consecutive loss since last season and will pause a week before playing defending champions Atlanta Drive on February 2. Los Angeles returns to the SoFi Center on February
