TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team effort and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first-ever albatross in TGL history, achieved by Justin Rose. It was only in the second phase of singles that the Los Angeles Golf Club clearly secured the match.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Gives Los Angeles the Lead

During the second hole of the first phase (Triples), Los Angeles threw the first hammer, earning two points. Jupiter Links responded with their first hammer on hole five, gaining an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead with another point on hole six. The Triples phase ended after the ninth hole with Los Angeles leading 4:1, after Jupiter Links incurred a penalty stroke on the final triples hole.

In the singles phase, Los Angeles gained momentum quickly. Justin Rose opened hole ten (a par 5) with a 300-meter drive down the fairway. Max Homa from New York made a solid but shorter shot, landing just short of the green, putting his team in a good position to close the gap.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Scores First Albatross in TGL

Justin Rose made history on the tenth hole with an albatross—a 210-meter shot with a 4-iron that amazed fans and left New York’s team stunned. Even Tiger Woods smiled, mentioning he had never recorded an albatross in his career. This shot boosted Los Angeles’s lead to 5:1.

On holes 12 and 13, Jupiter Links clawed back three points. Kevin Kisner made par on hole 12 after Collin Morikawa took a penalty. Max Homa added a birdie and two points with a hammer shot the opposing team accepted, making the match competitive at 4:5.

Decision in the Final Holes: Los Angeles Seals the Win

Los Angeles reserved a hammer for the penultimate hole, which Jupiter accepted to stay in the game. Collin Morikawa secured a par on that hole, effectively sealing the victory. New York was unable to score on the final hole, and the match concluded 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.
