Odyssey leverages AI: The new Ai-DUAL putters aim to improve ball speed and putting precision through intelligent insert design.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation with novel design. Central to this is the Ai-DUAL Insert, a two-layered urethane component developed using Artificial Intelligence, featuring a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer designed to provide consistent ball speed across the face and enhanced forward spin. This insert is complemented by the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which has a steeper 19-degree angle compared to previous models, promoting a more consistent forward roll across the entire face.
Entry-Level Models Also Developed with Artificial Intelligence
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various configurations. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring a different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants equipped with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line includes the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which utilize a modern mid-shafted design. This positions the shaft below the center of gravity, allowing the putter tip to tilt slightly upward and achieve the so-called “Zero Torque” effect, keeping the face relatively square during the stroke. Additionally, these models feature a preset forward shaft lean of two degrees to prevent accidental face opening when applying forward hand pressure. A specially designed reverse-taper grip compensates for this preset, enabling comfortable and parallel alignment of grip and face.
