Odyssey uses AI: The new Ai-DUAL putters feature intelligent insert design to improve ball speed and putting precision.
Odyssey, a subsidiary of Callaway, has expanded its putter line with the new Ai-DUAL models, combining material innovation with novel design. Central to these putters is the Ai-DUAL insert, a two-layer urethane element developed using artificial intelligence. It features a soft outer layer and a firmer inner layer to ensure consistent ball speed across the face and improved forward roll. Complementing the insert is the new Forward Roll Design (FRD) groove, which, with a 19-degree loft, is deeper and more pronounced than previous versions to promote more consistent forward roll across the entire face.
Ai-DUAL Putters Also Developed as Entry-Level Models Using AI
The Ai-DUAL putters come in various versions. Standard models feature a lightweight steel shaft with a counterweight at the grip end to stabilize the stroke. For players preferring a different balance, Odyssey offers Cruiser variants with heavier heads, longer and heavier shafts, and longer grips.
The Odyssey Ai-DUAL Square 2 as a Zero-Torque Putter
An extension of the line is the Ai-DUAL Square 2 Square putters, which have a modern center-shafted design. This design positions the shaft below the center of gravity, allowing the putter to rest with the toe slightly up and achieving the so-called \”Zero Torque\” effect. This construction keeps the face relatively square throughout the stroke. Additionally, these models have a pre-set two-degree forward shaft lean to prevent accidental face opening during forward hand pressure. A specially developed reverse-taper grip balances this setup to provide comfortable, parallel alignment between grip and face.
