TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, Los Angeles defeats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) saw the New York-based Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) face off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first albatross in TGL history, achieved by Justin Rose. The Los Angeles Golf Club secured a decisive victory during the second phase of the match, the Singles.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles in Front

During the Triples phase, Los Angeles struck first with a hammer shot on the second hole, earning two points. Jupiter Links responded with their own hammer on the fifth hole for an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead further on the sixth hole. The Triples phase ended with Los Angeles leading 4:1 after Jupiter Links took a penalty stroke on the ninth hole.

The Singles phase saw rapid action in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole with a confident 300-meter drive. Max Homa followed with a solid but shorter drive, setting up New York with a chance to recover points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose’s First Albatross in TGL

On the tenth hole, Justin Rose made history with a 4-iron shot from 210 meters that resulted in an albatross, stunning the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods, who tweeted about never making an albatross in his career, smiled at the feat. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

Following this, Jupiter Links made a late surge with three points on holes twelve and thirteen. Kevin Kisner parred on twelve while Collin Morikawa incurred a penalty. Max Homa then scored a birdie with a hammer throw accepted by the opposing team, narrowing the gap to 4:5 and intensifying the match.

Final Holes Decide: Los Angeles Closes Out the Match

Los Angeles saved a hammer for the penultimate hole, forcing New York to accept defeat if they lost it. Collin Morikawa’s par secured the hole and effectively sealed the victory. The final hole saw no points gained by New York, ending the match at 8:4 in favor of Los Angeles.
