Golf World Rankings: Matti Schmid Leads as Best German in 2026

Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the top German in the golf world rankings, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.

Only One German in the Top 100

As the 2026 golf season begins, we look at the rankings of German players. Matti Schmid is the best German player at rank 92 and the only German in the top 100. Stephan Jäger, who was ranked 52 at the beginning of last year, lost points and now ranks 114.

The best German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen, ranked 193. Marcel Siem improved his position after a T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in mid-January and now stands at 257. Marcel Schneider ranks 243 and Thomas Rosenmüller 276, both within the top 300.

Sepp Straka in the Top 15

Sepp Straka remains the highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region, placed at number 12. Despite taking it easy at the end of the year due to family issues, his results from the previous year position him well to challenge the top 10 again in the upcoming year.

Scottie Scheffler Dominates the Rankings

Scottie Scheffler is still the undisputed world number 1 with over 200 points ahead of second-placed Rory McIlroy. The top five is completed by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
