Historic Albatross by Justin Rose Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, the Los Angeles team prevailed over the New Yorkers.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, in the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL), the New York Jupiter Links Golf Club (featuring Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) faced off against the Los Angeles Golf Club (featuring Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first ever albatross in TGL history. The Los Angeles Golf Club secured a decisive victory only in the second phase of play, the singles matches.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the second hole of the first phase, the Triples, Los Angeles threw the first hammer, earning two points. Jupiter Links responded with their first hammer on the fifth hole, gaining an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead further on the sixth hole. After the ninth hole, Los Angeles ended the Triples phase with a bogey and a score of 4:1, aided by a penalty incurred by Jupiter Links on the final hole of the phase.

In the second phase, the Singles, momentum shifted swiftly in favor of Los Angeles. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (a par 5) with a powerful 300-meter drive. Max Homa of New York followed with a solid but shorter shot landing just short of the green, setting up a chance to claw back points.

Historic Moment: Justin Rose Achieves First Albatross in TGL

Justin Rose made history on the tenth hole, executing a 4-iron shot from 210 meters to score an albatross, electrifying the crowd at the SoFi Center. Even Tiger Woods smiled, noting he had never achieved an albatross in his career. This shot extended Los Angeles’ lead to 5:1.

On holes twelve and thirteen, Jupiter Links rallied with three points. Kevin Kisner made a par on the twelfth after Collin Morikawa took a penalty. Max Homa secured a birdie and two additional points with a hammer shot accepted by the opposing team, tightening the score to 4:5 and making the match exciting in the late stages.
