Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the highest-ranked German golfer on the world golf rankings, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
As the 2026 golf season begins, we look at where German players stand in the rankings. Matti Schmid is the top German at number 92 and the only German in the top 100. Stephan Jäger, who was ranked 52 at the start of last year, lost points and now stands at 114.
The highest-ranked German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at 193. Marcel Siem improved his position after a T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in mid-January, now ranked 257. Marcel Schneider and Thomas Rosenmüller are also in the top 300, at 243 and 276 respectively.
Sepp Straka in the Top 15
The best-ranked player from the German-speaking region is Sepp Straka, currently 12th. Despite taking it easy late last year due to family issues, his prior results position him to challenge for a top 10 spot in the upcoming year.
Scottie Scheffler Dominates at Number 1
Scottie Scheffler remains the undisputed world number 1 with over 200 points ahead of second-placed Rory McIlroy. The top 5 is completed by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
