A bronze statue of golf legend Severiano ‘Seve’ Ballesteros has disappeared from his hometown. Authorities are investigating the theft.
The life-sized bronze statue, erected in 2009, vanished from the Spanish village of Pedrena in the Cantabria region, Ballesteros’ hometown. Spanish authorities have launched an investigation after the town council of the larger municipality Marina de Cudeyo announced on Instagram that the ‘unfortunate event’ over the weekend indicates the bronze statue was stolen. The council urged the public to assist with the investigation: ‘If anyone has observed suspicious activity, especially in the last 24 hours, please inform the Guardia Civil or the local police.’
