TGL: Historic Albatross Leads Los Angeles to Victory Over Jupiter

With a strong team performance and a historic moment by Justin Rose, the Los Angeles team beats New York in the Tomorrow Golf League.

On Tuesday at the SoFi Center in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, the Tomorrow Golf League (TGL) featured a match between New York’s Jupiter Links Golf Club (with Max Homa, Kevin Kisner, and Akshay Bhatia) and the Los Angeles Golf Club (with Justin Rose, Collin Morikawa, and Sahith Theegala). The match was highlighted by the first albatross in the league’s history, achieved by Justin Rose. The Los Angeles Golf Club sealed the victory decisively in the singles phase.

Triples Phase: Early Hammer Puts Los Angeles Ahead

During the Triples phase, Los Angeles scored the first hammer on the second hole, earning two points. Jupiter Links answered with their first hammer on the fifth hole, securing an important point. Los Angeles extended their lead on the sixth hole and finished the Triples 4:1, aided by a penalty stroke against Jupiter on the ninth hole.

In the singles phase, the momentum shifted strongly in Los Angeles’s favor. Justin Rose opened the tenth hole (par 5) with a confident 300-meter drive. Max Homa from New York played a solid but shorter shot. Despite New York’s good position, Rose achieved a historic feat.

On the tenth hole, Justin Rose hit a 4-iron from 210 meters to score an albatross, electrifying the crowd at the SoFi Center. Tiger Woods even remarked he never made an albatross in his career. This stunning shot extended Los Angeles’s lead to 5:1.

Jupiter Links fought back with three points on holes 12 and 13. Kevin Kisner made a par on 12 after Collin Morikawa received a penalty. Max Homa’s birdie and a hammer accepted by Los Angeles narrowed the gap at 4:5, making the match exciting again.

Final Holes: Los Angeles Seals the Win
