Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the highest-ranked German golfer in the world rankings, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
As the 2026 golf season begins, we take a look at the standings of German players. Matti Schmid is the best German at rank 92 and the only German inside the top 100. Stephan Jäger has lost points compared to last year and now stands at rank 114, down from 52 at the start of last year.
Nicolai Von Dellingshausen is the best German not playing on the PGA Tour, currently ranked 193rd. Marcel Siem improved his ranking after a T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in mid-January and now sits at 257. Also in the top 300 are Marcel Schneider at 243 and Thomas Rosenmüller at 276.
Sepp Straka in the Top 15
The highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region is Sepp Straka at position 12. Despite taking it easy late last year due to family issues, his performances have him poised to challenge the top 10 of the world rankings again in 2026.
Scottie Scheffler Remains Clear Leader
The undisputed number 1 in the world remains Scottie Scheffler, leading by over 200 points ahead of runner-up Rory McIlroy. The top five is rounded out by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
