Nacho Elvira Triumphs in Thrilling DP World Tour Dubai Invitational Finale

Nacho Elvira secured victory at the Dubai Invitational, battling Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, and David Hillier. Marcel Siem finishes in the Top 15.

Nacho Elvira clinched the first DP World Tour title of the year in a gripping contest featuring top-tier names. The Spaniard had built a three-shot lead but stumbled with bogeys at the end of the front nine and found water at the 10th. Though he saved par there, it opened the door for rivals like Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, David Hillier, and Marcus Armitage, who all shared the lead after slightly more than half of the final round.

McIlroy surged into a shared lead with five consecutive birdies but faltered with a bogey on the 18th. Shane Lowry broke free with a massive putt at the 15th to claim solo leadership.

Elvira caught up at 17, turning the decisive battle into a duel on 18. There, the Spaniard showed stronger nerves with a solid par despite missing the green. Lowry, meanwhile, found a bunker with his second shot, then splashed into the water beyond the green. This double bogey dropped him to third place, which he shared with McIlroy.

This victory marks Elvira’s third on the tour, following his last win at the Soudal Open in May 2024.

Marcel Siem surged on the first final day of the new year. Carding a 66, he climbed to T13, narrowly missing the top 10. With nine birdies, he pushed himself but also risked four bogeys mostly due to missed greens. At 18, he found himself on the edge of a water hazard, forcing a penalty drop and nearly missing a par-saving putt. He ultimately gained 12 places.
