Chris Gotterup Wins Sony Open 2026 for Third PGA Tour Victory

Chris Gotterup wins the Sony Open in Hawaii against a strong field, securing his third PGA Tour title.

Strong Final Round Secures Third PGA Tour Title

Chris Gotterup started 2026 with a victory at the PGA Tour Sony Open in Hawaii. Posting a final round of -6 (64) and a two-stroke lead, the American secured his third Tour win. Gotterup initially benefited from a collapse by the 54-hole leader Davis Riley but sealed the win with crucial birdies in the closing holes at Waialae Country Club.

Starting the final round two strokes behind as a chaser with Davis Riley ahead, Gotterup applied early pressure with strong drives and good putts, scoring four birdies on the front nine.

\”I just felt I was in good shape this week and I’m happy to be here,\” Gotterup said after his round. \”I felt like I had my mind under control, which is the most important. I drove well and made some key putts.\”

Riley’s Collapse Opens the Door

Davis Riley initially defended his two-stroke lead well, staying ahead with two birdies in the first five holes. However, his round soon unraveled as three long putts on holes six and seven led to bogeys, followed by a wild shot on hole eight resulting in a double bogey. A comfortable lead quickly turned into a deficit he could not recover from. He finished tied for sixth with a -11 total.

This shift benefited Gotterup, who made long putts on holes 12 and 13 for birdies, pulling away decisively. Closing on the par-3 17th hole, he landed his tee shot perfectly between the flag and bunker, securing another birdie and sealing the win at -16, two strokes clear.
