Matti Schmid starts 2026 as the highest-ranked German golfer in the world rankings, followed by Stephan Jäger and Nicolai Von Dellingshausen.
Only One German in the Top 100
As the 2026 golf season begins, we look at the rankings of German players entering the year. The best German is Matti Schmid at rank 92, also the only German player in the top 100. Stephan Jäger has lost points compared to last year when he was 52, now ranking 114.
The best German not playing on the PGA Tour is Nicolai Von Dellingshausen at rank 193. Marcel Siem moved up after his T14 finish at the Dubai Invitational in the third week of January, now at rank 257. Also in the top 300 are Marcel Schneider at 243 and Thomas Rosenmüller at 276.
Sepp Straka in the Top 15
The highest-ranked player from the German-speaking region at the start of 2026 remains Sepp Straka at 12th place. Despite taking it easy late last year due to family issues, his results from the previous year position him to challenge the top 10 again in the coming year.
Scottie Scheffler Leads by a Wide Margin
The undisputed world number 1 remains Scottie Scheffler, leading by over 200 points ahead of second-ranked Rory McIlroy. The top 5 is rounded out by England’s Tommy Fleetwood and Americans Xander Schauffele and Russell Henley.
