Nacho Elvira Triumphs in Thrilling DP World Tour Dubai Invitational Finale

Nacho Elvira triumphed over Shane Lowry, Rory McIlroy, and David Hillier in the final of the Dubai Invitational. Marcel Siem finished in the Top 15. 

Nacho Elvira secured a thrilling victory against high-profile competitors to claim the first DP World Tour title of the year. The Spaniard had extended his lead to three shots before faltering with bogeys at the end of the front nine and hitting water on the 10th hole. While he managed to save par there, it opened the door for rivals including Rory McIlroy, Shane Lowry, David Hillier, and Marcus Armitage, who were all tied for the lead just past the halfway mark of the final round.

McIlroy had surged into a share of the lead with five consecutive birdies but slipped back with a bogey on the 18th. Shane Lowry broke away to take the solo lead with a huge putt on the 15th.

Elvira caught up at 17 and the tournament climaxed in a head-to-head duel on the 18th hole. The Spaniard showed stronger nerves with a solid par after missing the green. Lowry, however, found a bunker with his second shot and then sent the ball into the water beyond the green. The double bogey dropped him to third place, sharing it with McIlroy.

This marks Elvira’s third career DP World Tour win, having last triumphed at the Soudal Open in May 2024.

Marcel Siem made a strong start to the new year’s final day. Shooting a 66, he climbed to T13, narrowly missing the top 10. Siem recorded nine birdies but also took four bogeys, often due to missed greens.
