DP World Tour Dubai Invitational 2026: Siem Shines Amid Tough Conditions on Day 2

Challenging conditions at the DP World Tour Dubai Invitational on day two led to few low scores. Siem was one of nine under par.

Siem Closes in Top Ten with Under-Par Round on DP World Tour

Marcel Siem built on a solid first day with a strong second round at the DP World Tour, moving up several spots in the leaderboard. The German started with a birdie and followed it up at his fourth hole. Two bogeys prevented a better mid-round score, and Siem entered the back nine at even par.

He then got off to a dream start on the back nine with two consecutive birdies pushing him under par. A bogey briefly slowed his momentum, but another birdie and five pars in a row to finish secured him a 70 (-2). As one of only nine players under par on Friday, Siem climbed into the top ten heading into the weekend.

McIlroy and Lowry Battle for Lead

Rory McIlroy and Shane Lowry played together again and engaged in a tight duel for the lead. Lowry was very consistent, carding five birdies against two bogeys to separate himself and take the lead. Alongside Lowry, Nacho Elvira also moved up front with a strong 69 (-3), sharing the best round of the day.

McIlroy struggled mostly with water hazards, dropping balls into the water on holes 6 and 14, resulting in bogeys. On 18 he narrowly missed water but could only save a bogey despite a good recovery shot, shooting +3 and falling three strokes behind the leader.

Von Dellingshausen Continues to Battle Tough Conditions

Nicolai von Dellingshausen faced another challenging day under increasing winds. With two bogeys and seven pars on the front nine, he posted a steady but unremarkable score. After an additional bogey on 10, a nine-meter putt for birdie on 11 gave some momentum. However, another water hazard led to a double bogey on 13. After two rounds, he stands at +10.

Hole-in-One Highlights the Day

The day’s highlight came from Riggs Johnston, who aced the tough par-3 8th hole over water. Johnston is even par after two rounds.
