Get the Most Out of the New PING G440 K Driver

The Ping G440 K Driver sets a new MOI record for PING, enhancing forgiveness and ball speed.

With the Ping G440 K Driver, PING expands its current driver family with a model featuring a new design approach, adjustable weighting, and revised face technology.

The New Record-Setting Driver: Ping G440 K

The G440 K Driver complements Ping’s existing G440 series with another model joining the MAX, SFT, and LST variants. The focus is on a high moment of inertia (MOI), changed weight distribution, and an advanced face construction.

A key innovation is the combined MOI, which the manufacturer states is the highest MOI value in Ping’s history. This characteristic is designed to stabilize strike direction and reduce deviations on off-center hits.

Using Dual Carbonfly Wrap technology, carbon material is applied in both the crown and sole of the driver. The lighter carbon compared to titanium saves weight that is redistributed within the clubhead, much of it concentrated in a high-density tungsten back weight. The position of this weight affects the center of gravity and the overall MOI of the clubhead.

The rear weight is heavier than in the previous benchmark model, the G430 MAX 10K, and can be shifted in three positions: Draw, Neutral, and Fade. These positions alter the clubhead’s center of gravity, impacting ball launch and shot shape. Additionally, placing the weight toward the back achieves a lower and further-back center of gravity.

The carbon crown and sole initially resulted in a duller sound, so a composite crown bridge and sole ribs were added to connect crown and sole, influencing stiffness on impact and reducing certain frequency ranges.

The face has also been refined. The forged T9S+ face uses a flatter profile and a tailored Variable Face Thickness structure, aiming for more consistent face flexibility across a larger area.

Variants, Lofts, and Availability

The Ping G440 K Driver has a 460 cc head volume and is available in lofts of 9°, 10.5°, and 12°, with an adjustable loft range of ±1.5°. Standard head weight is 203 grams, with a stock swing weight of D3. Various shaft and grip options are available as stock and upgrades.

The driver is now available worldwide through authorized Ping fitters and can be pre-ordered. The suggested retail price is 750 euros including the stock shaft.

G440 K HL Variant

Alongside the standard model, the G440 K is offered in an HL version designed for lower overall weight, pairing a 46-inch shaft length with lighter shafts, grips, and reduced back weight. This setup aims to increase clubhead speed for slower swing speeds. The G440 K HL is available in lofts of 9°, 10.5°, and 12°.
