Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Immediately Back on PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain linked to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was announced amicably according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil. However, Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives on high-level contests, was only partially motivated in LIV. He initially joined in 2022 due to injury concerns and to secure substantial retirement income. Hence, his stepping away from the last contractual season is not surprising, though questions remain about potential buyouts or partial refunds. Koepka remains the owner of his LIV team Smash GC, with Talor Gooch now captain.

Speculation is rife about which fairways Koepka will play on next. DP World Tour, where he could resume immediately possibly facing a fine? Or PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension post-LIV despite greatly softened lifetime bans previously imposed? Why hold grudges when every high-profile LIV returnee plays into the stronger tour’s hands? ESPN’s Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022.
