Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Back on the PGA Tour Immediately

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to play again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League for the 2026 season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was officially stated by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, a competitive type who thrives in top-level competition, was only partially motivated by LIV. He had moved to the Saudi-backed league in 2022 mainly due to injuries threatening his career end and the desire to secure substantial retirement funds. Thus, skipping the last contractually required season is not surprising, though questions remain whether he had to buy out or return part of his guaranteed salary. Koepka, 35, remains owner of his LIV team Smash GC, which recently appointed Talor Gooch as captain.

Speculations are rife about where Koepka will play next. Will it be on the DP World Tour, where he would immediately be eligible to play, possibly with a penalty? Or on the PGA Tour, where he has been serving a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after lifelong bans imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan were drastically softened? Why be vindictive when any high-profile LIV returnee benefits the more powerful established tour? This key question seems partially answered now. According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which was not extended after 2022, seeking readmission to the player ranks.
