Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Play

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager for more, Charley Hull launching on YouTube soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially opted out of the 2026 LIV Golf season beginning February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is a competitive player who thrives in high-level contests, something he seldom experienced on LIV. Initially, he joined LIV in 2022 mainly due to injury concerns and the opportunity to secure solid retirement earnings. Given this background, his decision to forgo the final contracted season is understandable, although questions remain about whether he had to buy out part of his guaranteed payout or if he still owns his LIV team Smash GC, which named Talor Gooch as its new captain.

Speculations abound regarding which tour Koepka will play on next. He could immediately be eligible for the DP World Tour, possibly with a penalty fee, or return to the PGA Tour, where he is serving a one-year suspension from his last LIV appearance that was softened from a lifetime ban previously imposed by former commissioner Jay Monahan. This key question seems to be answered partially: According to ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed since 2022, and to rejoin the players’ roster.
