Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Play

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager for another run, Charley Hull heading to YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner will remain connected to the competing circuit but requires more time for his family, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka, known as a competitor who thrives in high-level sporting battles, was less motivated in LIV events. He switched in 2022 mainly because an injury had him questioning the end of his career and he wanted a substantial retirement fund. So skipping his last contractual playing season is not surprising, though questions remain about financial arrangements and team ownership including his LIV Smash GC team, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation grows about where Koepka will next play: the DP World Tour, where he would be eligible immediately likely with penalties, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension after his last LIV event following softened lifetime bans by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. Why be vindictive when every returning LIV player benefits the PGA Tour? This key question appears partly answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed after 2022.

Possible suspension ends in August, coinciding with the 2026 season finale at the Tour Championship from August 27-30. Koepka would be eligible for 2027 under the PGA Tour’s new schedule featuring roughly two dozen $20-million events with limited fields, ideal timing for his return and attractive to PGA Tour Enterprises investors backing the league.
