Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Play

First start at the Farmers; Vijay Singh ready to compete again; Charley Hull launches her YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion will remain involved with the rival circuit but needs more time for family. This was the official statement by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka, a competitor who thrives in top-level contests, was less motivated in LIV. He originally joined LIV in 2022 mainly for financial security due to injury concerns. Hence, his skipping the final contracted season is not surprising, though questions remain about buyouts or paybacks. He remains owner of LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation arises about where Koepka will play next. The DP World Tour would allow immediate play, probably with penalties; PGA Tour imposes a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, though lifetime bans have eased. According to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied to reactivate his PGA Tour membership last Friday.

His possible suspension expires in August, coinciding with the 2026 season’s end. Koepka would be eligible for 2027 under PGA Tour’s new top-tier event structure. Jon Rahm recently said on the “Subpar” podcast that Koepka will likely return, playing his preferred big events. The PGA Tour’s leadership, including Tiger Woods-led competition committee, may overlook his suspension, aligning with Rory McIlroy’s support and fan sentiment shown in a Bunkered magazine poll.

Update: Koepka’s immediate reinstatement was confirmed, allowing him to play at the Farmers Insurance Open late January at Torrey Pines and the WM Phoenix Open at TPC Scottsdale, thanks to the new \”Returning Member Program\” for selected LIV players.
