Membership Renewed, No Suspension: Koepka Returns to the PGA Tour

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to compete again, Charley Hull launching her YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the LIV Golf League season 2026, which starts on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner intends to stay connected to the rival circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a friendly agreement, according to an official statement by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. Koepka is known as a competitor who is most motivated and fired up during high-level challenges, something he experienced only to a limited extent at LIV. In 2022, he switched primarily due to injury concerns and aimed to secure a solid retirement fund. Given this, his opting out of the final contracted season is not surprising, although questions remain about potential buyouts or repayment of guaranteed fees. He remains the owner of LIV’s Smash GC team, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about which fairways Koepka will play on next. Will it be the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible, possibly with a penalty? Or the PGA Tour, where he must serve a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, after lifetime bans issued by former Commissioner Jay Monahan were significantly softened? Why hold grudges when returning LIV players benefit the already dominant PGA Tour? This key question seems partly answered: according to ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had not been renewed after 2022, to be reinstated in the players’ circle.
