Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Competition

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh eager to play again, Charley Hull launching YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major winner remains connected to the rival circuit but needs more family time, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. However, Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, which he found limited at LIV. Having joined LIV in 2022 mainly to secure his retirement financially after injury concerns, his skipping of the last contracted season is not surprising though questions remain—did he buy out, repay part of his guaranteed salary? Does he remain owner of LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch?

Speculation surrounds which fairways Koepka will next appear on. The DP World Tour grants him immediate playing rights, possibly with a penalty; the PGA Tour imposes a one-year suspension since his last LIV appearance, now significantly softened from lifetime bans by former Commissioner Jay Monahan. Why be vindictive when LIV returnees benefit the long-dominant PGA Tour? This key question seems partly answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reports Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership after 2022 and be reinstated as a player.
