Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour Competition

First start at the Farmers, Vijay Singh ready to compete again, Charley Hull launching a YouTube channel soon. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting February 7 in Riyadh. The five-time major champion has decided to remain connected to the competing circuit but needs more family time, according to an amicable agreement stated by LIV CEO Scott McNeil. However, Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level contests and has been only moderately motivated in LIV. In 2022, he joined LIV mainly to secure a solid retirement fund due to injury concerns possibly ending his career early. Thus, skipping the final contractual season is not surprising though questions remain about the financial terms and his continued ownership of the LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rampant regarding which tours Koepka will next appear on — the DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible, potentially with a penalty payment, or the PGA Tour, where he faces a one-year suspension following his last LIV appearance. After former Commissioner Jay Monahan’s lifetime bans were significantly reduced, returning players like Koepka benefit the PGA Tour. Recently, ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that Koepka formally applied last Friday to reactivate his PGA Tour membership, which had lapsed post-2022, seeking reinstatement.
