Membership Renewed, No Ban: Koepka Returns to PGA Tour in 2026 Season

First start already at the Farmers, Vijay Singh wants to compete again, Charley Hull soon on YouTube. The Back Nine.

As expected, Brooks Koepka has officially withdrawn from the 2026 LIV Golf season starting on February 7 in Riyadh; the five-time major champion remains connected to the competing circuit but needs more time for his family. This was a friendly agreement, according to LIV CEO Scott McNeil’s official statement. Koepka is a competitive type who thrives on high-level competition, which he found limited in LIV. He originally joined LIV in 2022 when he believed his career might be ending due to injury and wanted to secure a solid retirement fund. His skipping the final contract year is not surprising, though questions remain about buyout details and if he retains ownership of his LIV team Smash GC, now captained by Talor Gooch.

Speculation is rife about which fairways Koepka will appear on next—DP World Tour, where he would be immediately eligible perhaps after a fine, or PGA Tour, where he would serve a one-year suspension after his last LIV appearance, with previous lifetime bans softened. The critical question seems partially answered: ESPN journalist Mark Schlabach reported that last Friday Koepka formally applied to reinstate his PGA Tour membership after it was not renewed post-2022.

A potential suspension would expire in August, coinciding with the end of the 2026 season at the Tour Championship from August 27–30. Koepka would be eligible for 2027 under PGA Tour’s new schedule featuring nearly two dozen $20 million events with limited, top-tier fields—ideal timing for a comeback.
