Cobra’s New King Tec Mini Driver: A Hybrid Between Driver and Fairway Wood

Cobra introduces the versatile King Tec Mini Driver for precise tee shots and enhanced control in your bag.

A traditional driver is not the first choice for every player type; sometimes it’s too long, too error-prone, or lacks control. This is exactly where Cobra steps in with the new King Tec Mini Driver. This model features a clubhead volume of 303 cc and a shaft length of 43.75 inches, making it closer to a fairway wood than the traditional 460 cc driver. According to Cobra, this leads to more consistency and a tighter dispersion pattern, both off the tee and from the fairway.

Cobra King Tec Mini Driver: Compact, Versatile, Adjustable

The King Tec Mini Driver was developed for all players who prioritize precision over pure distance off the tee. The smaller clubhead shape is said by Cobra to be easier to align while still providing a familiar feel at address. Those who have been wavering between a 3-wood and driver may find a promising middle ground here. Compatibility with the FutureFit33 shaft system offers added flexibility in setup.

Technology for Variable Requirements

Two weights – one 12 grams, one 2 grams – can be positioned at the front or back of the clubhead. Depending on the placement, the center of gravity can be altered for more speed and less spin with a front-weighted setup, or greater stability and forgiveness with a rear weighting. This allows for targeted ball flight adjustment based on course conditions or personal preferences. Technically, the King Tec Mini Driver incorporates everything expected from a modern Cobra club. The combination of titanium body, carbon crown, and PWRSHELL H.O.T. Face ensures stability, controlled launch angles, and consistent ball speed—even on off-center hits. The face is designed to minimize distance loss on mishits.

FutureFit33: Loft and Lie Rethought

At the heart of the mini driver is the new FUTUREFIT33 hosel, allowing 33 different loft and lie settings that can be adjusted independently. According to Cobra, adjustments require just a few simple steps, and SMARTPAD technology keeps the face angle neutral in any position. This makes fitting significantly more flexible, suitable for both tour players and custom fitting.

Customizable Configuration

The King Tec Mini Driver will be available starting January 16, 2026. Cobra supplies the model standard with an MCA Kai’li Blue 60 shaft in Regular or Stiff. For those seeking even more precise tuning, additional options are offered through custom fitting. The price is set at 500 euros. According to the company, the custom-made models are produced in Helsingborg, Sweden.
