MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky, strengthening the new golf team ahead of extensive live coverage starting January 2026.

After securing exclusive broadcast rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also attracted prominent commentator Gregor Biernath from Sky Sports. Starting from January 15, 2026, MagentaTV will offer a total of 131 live golf events across two channels, becoming the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most well-known golf voices in the German-speaking region, is leading the new expert team at MagentaTV. He is supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath stated, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and spoke of a ‘really good mix.’

The commentator lineup has also been refreshed with new faces. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known for his work as an ice hockey moderator on MagentaSport, will also be part of the live broadcast team.
