Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land: A Perfect Refuge in Germany’s Green Heart

The splendid resort in Germany’s green heart, Thuringia, is the ultimate destination. A third golf course is planned soon.

Every space is said to breathe the spirit of its owner. Seldom is the signature of the owners so distinctly felt as in the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Located just 20 minutes by car from the cities of Goethe, Schiller, and Bauhaus cultural heritage in Weimar, the Grafe family has established a refuge where even the smallest detail reflects their quality standards and style.

A Special Note of Personal Hospitality

This personal hospitality shapes the entire atmosphere of the complex: from the 94 rooms and suites of the hotel and seven family units, to the LindenSpa, which was expanded to 3,000 square meters in 2023 with high-end wellness offerings, and the now seven restaurants at the resort.

Seven Restaurants, Two with Michelin Stars

The Masters by chef Danny Schwabe and The First by Marcello Fabbri have each held a Michelin star for several years, offering French-inspired and Italian haute cuisine, making Weimarer Land quite unique. The Güldene Zopf in the nearby town of Blankenhain serves exclusively Thuringian specialties. Every January, Grafe hosts the Culinary Open, a walking dinner that is an annual gathering of Michelin-starred chefs.

Goethe- and Feininger-Courses with 18 Holes Each

Project architect Achim Reinmuth of Städler & Reinmuth Golf Design crafted the original 18-hole Bobby Jones Champion Course in the charming landscape of Thuringia, trails once wandered by Germany’s poet Goethe 200 years ago. By 2012, the two halves had been expanded into the wooded, bunkered Goethe Course (5,971 meters, Par 72) in the scenic Weimar hills and the flatter Feininger Course (5,707 meters, Par 71) with several water hazards and challenging greens. The original course (6,280 meters, Par 73) remains as an essence and is used mainly for major tournaments.

Alongside the resort complex, constructed from the ruins of a former Slavic farm Gut Krakau, are the hotel built in a traditional square farm style, the quaint “GolfHütte” with golf reception, pro shop, and ground-floor restaurant, plus the Champions Dinner Hall for up to 120 guests, a children’s play area “RabbitClub,” and family apartments. These new buildings were designed to appear a century old and opened in 2013.

Besides golf, the resort offers the Königin Louise 9-hole course and the Luke Ross Hall equipped with three Trackman simulators to complete the golfing experience. Also available is the Gut Krakau equestrian center and FIFA-standard soccer training fields, which have hosted teams like Werder Bremen and British clubs, with great success during EURO 2024 when the English national team stayed here as their base camp.

The resort covers 450 hectares with 110 hectares of forest and three golf courses totaling 45 holes. The LindenSpa wellness area features indoor and outdoor pools,
