Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land: A Refined Retreat with Expanding Golf

The splendid resort in Thuringia’s green heart is like a pinnacle experience. Soon, a third golf course will open.

Every space is said to breathe the spirit of its owners. Rarely is the signature of a living space’s founders as clearly felt as at the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Just 20 minutes by car from the cities of Weimar, Schiller, and Bauhaus, the Grafe family has created a refuge where even the smallest detail reflects their commitment to quality and style.

A Special Note of Personal Hospitality

This personal hospitality characterizes the entire resort, from the 94 hotel rooms and suites and seven family residences, to the LindenSpa wellness area expanded to 3,000 square meters in 2023, and to the seven restaurants now part of the resort.

Seven Restaurants, Two Michelin-Starred

The resort boasts two Michelin stars for the Masters restaurant by Executive Chef Danny Schwabe and The First by Marcello Fabbri, offering French-inspired and Italian haute cuisine respectively, making Weimarer Land unique. The nearby town’s Güldene Zopf focuses exclusively on Thuringian specialties, and each January hosts the Culinary Open featuring renowned Michelin-starred chefs.

Distinctive Golf Courses in Scenic Nature

Architect Achim Reinmuth designed the original Bobby Jones Champion-Course’s 18 holes in the gentle Thuringian landscape once frequented by poet Goethe. By 2012, two 18-hole courses were formed: the wooded and artfully bunkered Goethe-Course (5,971 meters, par 72) and the flatter Feininger-Course (5,707 meters, par 71) with multiple water hazards and challenging greens. The original 6,280 meters, par 73 course is still used mainly for major tournaments.

The resort also includes a charming GolfHütte housing the golf reception, pro shop, and dining facilities, a hotel designed in the style of a four-sided courtyard, and additional family accommodations. The resort was opened in 2013, combining historic charm with modern leisure.

The Königin Louise 9-hole course and Luke Ross Hall with three Trackman simulators complement the golf offerings. Additionally, there is a riding stable and FIFA-standard football training pitches, used by teams such as Werder Bremen and, notably, designated as a base camp for the English national team during EURO 2024.

Matthias Grafe, the visionary behind the resort, emphasizes investing in the future and expanding leisure opportunities year-round. Plans include a third 18-hole golf course on 110 hectares of forested land acquired for this purpose, as well as a new sports hotel to complement both golfing and football clientele.

With its combination of luxury, sport, and hospitality, Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land aims to become a major tourism hub in Thuringia and a unique destination for golf enthusiasts worldwide.
