MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky

Gregor Biernath switches from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, DP World Tour, and PGA Tour, MagentaTV is also welcoming a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The broadcasts start on January 15, 2026, and will feature a total of 131 events on two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf TV coverage.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognizable golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. On his move, Biernath said, “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can develop here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage at MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” and said it was a “really good mix.”

New faces have also been sought and found in commentary. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in commentating on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey host for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
