MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky, strengthening the new golf team as extensive live coverage begins.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcast rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is now making the switch from Sky Sports to MagentaTV. The broadcasts will start next week, on January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV set to become the new home for live golf on television, offering a total of 131 events across two channels.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Good for Golf Is Emerging’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Regarding his move, Biernath said, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and revitalize golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and spoke of a ‘really good mix.’

In the commentator area, new faces were sought and found. Michael Born, who has previously worked as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in commenting on golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also be involved in the upcoming live broadcasts.
