MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage: Commentator Joins from Sky Sports

Gregor Biernath leaves Sky to join MagentaTV, strengthening its new golf team for extensive live broadcasts starting January 2026.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is now also making the switch from Sky Sports to MagentaTV. The new golf broadcasts will begin January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 events live on two channels, positioning MagentaTV as a new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Good is Emerging for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the best-known golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky Sports to MagentaTV. Biernath will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. About his move, Biernath said: “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf coverage on MagentaTV.” He also called the team a “cool editorial team” and described it as a “really good mix.”

New faces have also been brought on board in the commentator team. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary on DAZN, will now commentate golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
