Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team ahead of extensive live broadcasts.
After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcast rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, a prominent commentator also transfers from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts will begin next week, on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events on two channels as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Great is Emerging for Golf’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from the TV broadcaster Sky to MagentaTV. Biernath leads the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Commenting on his move, Biernath said: ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf is emerging here. We can innovate and refresh golf broadcasts on MagentaTV.’ He also described the new team as a ‘cool editorial team’ and spoke of a ‘really good mix.’
New faces have also been sought and found among the commentators. Michael Born, previously a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will now commentate on golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
