The splendid estate in Germany’s green heart, Thuringia, is a pinnacle of luxury. A third golf course is set to open soon.
Every room breathes the spirit of its owner. Rarely is a living space’s character as clearly felt as at Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Located just 20 minutes from the Goethe, Schiller, and Bauhaus city of Weimar, the Grafe family has established a refuge where every detail reflects their high standards and refined style.
A Special Touch of Personal Hospitality
This personal hospitality shapes the entire resort’s atmosphere, from the 94 hotel rooms and suites and seven family residences to the LindenSpa wellness area, which was expanded to 3,000 square meters in 2023 with high-end offerings, and to the seven restaurants now part of the resort.
Seven Restaurants, Two with Michelin Stars
At the Masters with Executive Chef Danny Schwabe and The First by Marcello Fabbri, each has held a Michelin star for years, offering Francophile and Italian-inspired haute cuisine, making Weimarer Land uniquely distinguished. The Güldene Zopf in nearby Blankenhain serves exclusively Thuringian specialties, and every January, Grafe hosts the Culinary Open, an annual walking dinner renowned for star chefs gathering.
Golf Courses and Expanding Facilities
The resort features two 18-hole golf courses: the wooded, artfully bunkered Goethe-Course (5,971 meters, par 72) set in the picturesque Weimar hills and the flatter Feininger-Course (5,707 meters, par 71) known for its water hazards and challenging greens. Both were designed by Achim Reinmuth and developed through 2012. The original 18-hole course (6,280 meters, par 73) remains for major tournaments.
A charmingly understated ‘GolfHütte’ serves as the golf reception, pro shop, and restaurant, while the resort complex includes the hotel styled as a four-sided courtyard, a ‘Champions Dinner Hall’, family apartments, and the RabbitClub for children. Built in formerly Slavic farm buildings, the structures were designed to appear a century old and opened in 2013.
The Königin Louise 9-hole course and the Luke Ross Hall with three Trackman simulators further complete the golf experience. Additionally, the resort offers a riding stable and football training pitches meeting FIFA standards, supporting a unique synergy between golf, hospitality, and football.
Matthias Grafe, the visionary behind the resort and a passionate Schalke 04 fan, has attracted various football teams, including England’s Three Lions during UEFA Euro 2024. The Guardian praised the resort as ‘the ultimate level’ set within well-maintained grounds.
The Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land spans 450 hectares, including 110 hectares of forest, three golf courses with a total of 45 holes, an indoor Trackman golf facility, and extensive sports and leisure amenities.
