Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, joining the new golf team as live coverage of 131 events kicks off.
After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has also attracted a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The coverage will start on January 15, 2026, offering a total of 131 live golf events on two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from the TV channel Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The entire team immediately made me feel that something new and positive is emerging for golf. We can innovate and refresh how golf is presented on MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” with a “really good mix.”
In the commentator team, new faces were also sought and found. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator at DAZN, will now commentate golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also join the upcoming live broadcasts.
