Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land: An Unmatched Refuge with Three Golf Courses Coming

The splendid ensemble in Germany’s green heart Thuringia is like ‘the ultimate stage’. A third golf course is set to open soon.

It is said that every room breathes the spirit of its inhabitant. Rarely is the touch of the owners so clearly felt as at the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Located just 20 minutes from the cultural hotbed of Weimar, the Grafe family has created a retreat where every detail reflects their high standards and style.

Distinctive Personal Hospitality

This personal touch shapes the entire resort—from 94 hotel rooms and suites to seven family residences, the LindenSpa whose wellness area was expanded to 3,000 square meters in 2023 with top-tier treatments, and seven restaurants.

Seven Restaurants, Two Michelin Stars

The Masters, led by Chef Danny Schwabe, and The First by Marcello Fabbri both hold Michelin stars, making Weimarer Land unique for French and Italian inspired haute cuisine. The Güldene Zopf in nearby Blankenhain focuses solely on Thuringian specialties. Each January, guests gather for the Culinary Open, a walking dinner event featuring star chefs.

Three 18-Hole Golf Courses and More

Designed by Achim Reinmuth of Städler & Reinmuth Golf Design, the original Bobby Jones Champion-Course captures the idyllic landscape where Goethe once wandered. The two 18-hole courses, the forested and artfully bunkered Goethe-Course (5,971 meters, par 72) and the flatter Feininger-Course (5,707 meters, par 71) featuring water hazards and tricky greens, were completed by 2012. The original 6,280-meter par 73 course remains for major tournaments. Additionally, the Königin Louise 9-hole course and Luke Ross Hall with three Trackman simulators complete the golf offerings.

The resort also includes a charming Golf Lodge with reception, pro shop, and dining, alongside the Champions Dinner Hall and family accommodations. Spread over 450 hectares—including 110 hectares of forest—the resort offers extensive sports and leisure options including football pitches meeting FIFA standards, which have hosted teams such as Queens Park Rangers and Glasgow Rangers.

Matthias Grafe, the visionary behind the resort and a fan of Schalke 04, integrates football to promote golf and hospitality. With facilities that hosted the English Three Lions during the EM 2024 and strategic partnerships with the German Football Association, he plans ongoing development including a new sports hotel and a third 18-hole golf course in the resort’s forested northeast area, aiming to make Weimarer Land a top tourist destination in Thuringia.
