MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Commentator Moving from Sky

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the new golf team for extensive live broadcasts starting January 2026.

After MagentaTV secured exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, DP World Tour, and PGA Tour, a prominent commentator is now switching from Sky Sport to MagentaTV. The broadcasts begin as early as January 15, 2026, with MagentaTV set to offer a total of 131 live golf events across two channels, becoming the new home for golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Positive is Developing for Golf”

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive is developing for golf. We can shape and refresh golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.” He also described the team as a “cool editorial team” and praised the “really good mix.”

New faces have also been found in the commentator lineup. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will commentate alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. In addition, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
