Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land: A Refined Retreat with Three Golf Courses Coming

The splendid ensemble in Germany’s green heart Thuringia is seen as ‘the ultimate level’. A third golf course is planned soon.

It is said that every room breathes the spirit of its owner. Rarely is the personal touch of a residence’s founders so distinctly felt as in the Spa & GolfResort Weimarer Land. Just 20 minutes by car from the cities of Goethe, Schiller, and Bauhaus in Weimar, the Grafe family established a refuge where even the smallest detail reflects their high standards and style.

A Unique Touch of Personal Hospitality

This personal hospitality shapes the entire resort’s atmosphere: from the 94 rooms and suites and seven family apartments, to the LindenSpa wellness area, expanded in 2023 to 3,000 square meters with high-end offerings, to the seven restaurants now part of the resort.

Seven Restaurants, Two with Michelin Stars

Both the Masters, led by Executive Chef Danny Schwabe, and The First, by Marcello Fabbri, have each held a Michelin star for years, showcasing refined French and Italian-inspired haute cuisine, making Weimarer Land quite unique. The nearby town Blankenhain’s Güldene Zopf focuses solely on Thuringian specialties. Every January, Grafe hosts the Culinary Open, a walking dinner event that draws star chefs annually.

Goethe and Feininger Courses with 18 Holes Each

Project architect Achim Reinmuth from Städler & Reinmuth Golf Design initially shaped the 18 holes of the original course, now called the Bobby Jones Champion Course, into the charming Thuringian landscape once wandered by Germany’s literary great Goethe 200 years ago. By 2012, the two loops were developed into the wooded, artfully bunkered Goethe Course (5,971 meters, par 72) and the flatter Feininger Course (5,707 meters, par 71) with numerous water hazards and challenging greens. The original 6,280 meter, par 73 course remains as the essence for major tournaments.

Alongside the golf courses, the resort features the charming \”GolfHütte\” offering golf reception, pro-shop, and ground floor gastronomy, a family apartment house, and the 120-person Champions Dinner Hall. The new buildings are designed to look 100 years old, with the resort opening in 2013.

Currently, the Königin Louise 9-hole course and the Luke Ross Hall with three Trackman simulators complement the golf experience, alongside horseback riding stables. The head greenkeeper and his team also maintain one and a half FIFA-standard football training pitches, a part of Grafe’s vision to use football to promote golf and hospitality.

The resort spans 450 hectares, including 110 hectares of forest, housing three golf courses and numerous sports and leisure options. The LindenSpa wellness area includes indoor and outdoor pools, a whirlpool, fitness room, treatment rooms, and six saunas. The seven restaurants, notably the two Michelin-starred establishments, underline the culinary depth. Football teams such as
