Gregor Biernath joins MagentaTV from Sky, strengthening their new golf team as extensive live coverage begins.
After securing exclusive broadcast rights to major golf events like the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV is expanding its golf team with a prominent addition from Sky Sports. Coverage will commence on January 15, 2026, offering 131 live events across two channels, positioning MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: “Something New and Positive for Golf is Emerging”
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf commentators in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath commented on his move: “The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good is happening for golf here. We can shape and refresh golf coverage innovatively at MagentaTV.” He also described the new team as a “cool editorial team” with a “really good mix.”
New faces have also been sought and found in the commentator ranks. Michael Born, previously known as a handball and football commentator for DAZN, will commentate on golf events alongside Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known primarily as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will also join the upcoming live broadcasts.
