Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, strengthening the golf team for extensive live broadcasts starting January 2026.
After securing exclusive broadcast rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV has acquired renowned commentator Gregor Biernath from Sky Sport. The live golf coverage will start on January 15, 2026, with a total of 131 events broadcast across two channels, marking MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.
Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive for Golf is Emerging’
Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, leads the new expert team at MagentaTV, supported by golf experts Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath stated, ‘The entire team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and good for golf can develop here. We can innovate and shake up golf coverage on MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as a ‘cool editorial team’ with a ‘really good mix.’
New commentators have also been brought on board. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel to cover golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly as an ice hockey presenter for MagentaSport, will accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
