Fans waited 30 years for a sequel, and last year it finally arrived: Happy Gilmore 2 premiered on Netflix, starring Adam Sandler alongside numerous star cameos. As the original film became a cult classic over the years, the time was ripe for a reboot. The wait paid off, as the film became one of the most successful Netflix movies of the year, according to Josh Carpenter in the Sports Business Journal.
Record-Breaking Streaming Numbers for Happy Gilmore 2
On its opening weekend, the film set a Netflix record with nearly 47 million streamed minutes. Over the course of the year, it was watched for more than 6.2 billion minutes while ranked in Netflix’s weekly Top 10. The movie topped the global Top 10 list for two weeks and remained in the worldwide Top 10 for a total of five weeks.

Out of 39 films released by Netflix this year, Happy Gilmore 2 ranks second only behind “KPop Demon Hunters,” which achieved over 17 billion minutes viewed.
