TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons

The new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons offer distance, forgiveness, and design in a complete package. Discover the details of these new game-improvement irons.

TaylorMade presents the new Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, introducing a new generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, while also addressing aesthetic preferences.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: The Next Generation of Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface, which is asymmetrically constructed with a higher toe than heel. Many game-improvement irons tend to flex unevenly at impact, especially on toe hits, often causing additional cut spin and shots drifting right. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a redesigned face that flexes more evenly, resulting in more stable ball launches and straighter trajectories with high ball speeds.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Beyond performance, feel was a crucial factor. Both models incorporate a sound stabilization bar connecting the back bar to the topline, stabilizing the topline and reducing unwanted impact noises. Additionally, the ECHO damping material was moved higher in the clubface to reduce vibrations while maintaining solid feedback at impact. Individually optimized faces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.

Two Designs for Different Player Types

The Qi Max irons target players seeking distance and forgiveness in a compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and reduced offset through a seamless transition from head to hosel. Using FLTD CG technology, the center of gravity is positioned low in long irons to promote higher launch and good stopping power, shifting higher in short irons to aid distance control. From irons 4 to 8, the Speed Pocket ensures stable ball speeds on low strikes.

In contrast, the Qi Max HL irons emphasize maximum forgiveness with a larger head profile, higher faces, and thicker soles and toplines to boost stability and confidence. Their lofts are 3° weaker than the Qi Max, paired with ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips to benefit players with slower swing speeds by increasing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping ability.

New Design and Availability

Both iron models feature a bright, monochromatic design inspired by the P-Series. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons are available in steel for €183 per club and graphite shafts for €200 per club. Pre-orders begin January 8, 2026, with retail availability starting January 29, 2026.
