MagentaTV Expands Golf Coverage with Top Commentator from Sky

Gregor Biernath moves from Sky to MagentaTV, boosting their new golf team as extensive live broadcasts begin.

After securing exclusive broadcasting rights for the Ryder Cup, the DP World Tour, and the PGA Tour, MagentaTV welcomes a prominent commentator from Sky Sport. The coverage starts on January 15, 2026, and will feature 131 live golf events across two channels, establishing MagentaTV as the new home for live golf on television.

Gregor Biernath: ‘Something New and Positive is Emerging for Golf’

Gregor Biernath, one of the most recognized golf voices in the German-speaking world, is moving from Sky to MagentaTV. He will lead the new expert team, supported by golf professionals Florian Zunker, Bernd Ritthammer, and Max Kramer. Biernath said about his move, ‘The whole team immediately gave me the feeling that something new and positive for golf is taking shape here. We can innovatively reshape golf coverage at MagentaTV.’ He also described the team as ‘a cool editorial team’ and a ‘really good mix.’

New commentators have also been recruited. Michael Born, previously known for handball and football commentary at DAZN, will join Herbert Gogel and Stephan Gandel in covering golf events. Additionally, Holger Speckhahn, known mainly for his ice hockey moderation on MagentaSport, will also accompany the upcoming live broadcasts.
