TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next-Gen Game-Improvement Irons

Discover the new TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, combining distance, forgiveness, and sleek design for improved performance.

TaylorMade introduces the Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons, a new generation of game-improvement irons designed to enhance distance, forgiveness, sound, and feel, while also addressing aesthetic aspects to meet players’ needs.

TaylorMade Qi Max and Qi Max HL: Next Generation Game-Improvement Irons

A key development focus was the clubface. Constructed asymmetrically with a higher toe than heel, many game-improvement irons tend to deform unevenly at impact, especially on toe hits, causing additional cut-spin and shots to the right. The Qi Max and Qi Max HL irons feature a face designed to bend more uniformly, resulting in straighter ball flights and stable ball speeds.

Sound, Feel, and Internal Enhancements

Performance alone was not enough; feel was equally important. Both models include a sound stabilization bar connecting the back bar to the topline to stabilize the topline and reduce unwanted impact noises. Additionally, the ECHO damping material has been repositioned higher in the face to reduce vibrations and produce a solid sound without losing feedback at impact. Optimized faces and new internal structures further support speed and consistent distance.

Two Models for Different Player Types

The Qi Max irons cater to players seeking distance and forgiveness in a relatively compact design with thinner toplines, shorter blade lengths, and less offset with a seamless hosel transition. Using FLTD CG, the center of gravity in long irons is positioned low for higher launches with good stopping power, while it moves higher in short irons for better distance control. The Speed Pocket in irons 4 through 8 helps maintain ball speeds on low strikes.

The Qi Max HL irons focus on maximum forgiveness, featuring larger profiles, higher faces, wider soles, and thicker toplines to increase stability and confidence. With lofts 3° weaker than the Qi Max and incorporating ultra-light heads, shafts, and grips, they benefit players with slower swing speeds by enhancing clubhead speed, launch height, and stopping power equally.
